Flow rails each have a single row of skate wheels, rollers, or ball transfers that allow cartons, totes, pallets, and other flat-bottomed items to glide along the rail in conveying applications. They are often mounted to pallet racks or storage lanes to allow gravity to move products in the back forward to the front once the items in front are used. They reduce the effort it takes to move these items on the rack or lane, which helps boost efficiency in inventory and order-picking tasks. Multiple flow rails can be installed side by side to create a flow rack, and they can also be mounted to surfaces, floors, or walls for custom conveying applications.
