These gate kits are used to install a conveyor gate (also known as a lift gate or pass through) into a rigid-frame skate wheel conveyor. The gate lets people pass from one side of the conveyor to the other without having to walk around the conveyor or use crossover ladders or platforms to go over the conveyor. Each conveyor gate consists of skate wheels mounted on axles attached to a hinged frame that can be raised or lowered. A spring-assist mechanism reduces the effort it takes to lift the gate. When the gate is lowered, the skate wheels allow flat-bottomed loads to glide along the surface of the gate. When the gate is raised, people can pass from one side of the conveyor to the other. Skate wheel conveyors consist of small skate wheels mounted on a series of axles attached to rigid or flexible frames. The wheels let boxes, totes, and other loads with firm, flat bottoms roll along the conveyor from one place to another, reducing the effort it takes to move the loads. These unpowered (gravity-flow) conveyors use a downward slope or a manual push to move loads down the line. Compared to roller conveyors, skate wheel conveyors need less force or slope to move loads and are better at maintaining the orientation of loads as they move around curves. The conveyors' wheel density impacts the size of the loads that can be conveyed on them. The smallest item on the conveyors should be supported by at least five wheels on three axles at all times. Gate kits and transition sections can be used to customize the conveyors. Skate wheel conveyors can be reconfigured for temporary applications and are often used in warehousing, manufacturing, package handing, and distribution tasks.
