Easily measures Bri x value of liquids from only two drops of sample with the same accuracy as more e x pensive instruments. Durable sample stage is ideal for measuring cutting oils, organic solvents and more. Sample is easily removed and prism can be rinsed under running water. The PAL-2 can measure high temperature samples during the heating or cooking process. (The measured Bri x value will stabilize after taking repeated measurements). The new E x ternal Light Interference (ELI) function helps provide accurate readings. When intense light penetrates the prism of a digital refractometer, the light waves interfere with the sensor resulting in inaccurate readings. To ensure accurate measurement results, the PAL-2 is programmed with the ELI to display the warning message “nnn” when intense direct light is detected. Users should form the habit of shading the sample stage with their hand to ensure the integrity of the reading. If the warning message should appear, shade the sample and repress the Start key to produce an accurate readings. Applications include high concentration samples such as jam, marmalade, jelly, syrup, honey and concentrated juice.
