The feeders are powered by electromagnetic drives, and they create vibration that conveys material in the trough at a consistent, controlled speed and volume. The unit has a fixed vibration frequency, but a compatible control unit can be used to alter the amplitude (stroke size) of the vibration in order to change the rate that materials flow through the feeder. Vibratory feeders vibrate in a controlled fashion to feed dry materials such as powders, flour, sand, or coal at a consistent speed and volume in bulk conveying applications. They are typically used under hoppers or similar storage vessels to control the flow of materials moving from the vessel into other processes or conveying systems.
