They are used in testing facilities, food-service facilities, laboratories, medical facilities, cleanrooms, manufacturing plants, and similar settings. The carts' bottom shelf has a flush surface that lets items slide onto or off of it when the carts are being loaded and unloaded. The carts' upper shelves are flush on one side and have a short lip on the other three sides. The flush side allows items to slide onto or off of the shelves, and the lipped sides prevent items from falling off them. This design also allows the top shelf to be used as a work surface. General purpose metal shelf and utility carts are more rugged and can hold heavier loads than plastic shelf and utility carts. The carts are used to organize, transport, and store items, and they have open metal shelves that allow items to be efficiently loaded and unloaded onto or off of them.
