The p52 NF-kB subunit is induced through activation of the alternative (noncanonical) NF-kB pathway in response to a range of stimuli such as lymphoto x in-b, BAFF and CD40, as well as DNA damage. Phosphorylation at S222 appears to regulate not only p52 partner dimerization but also the p52 dependent activation or repression of Skp2 gene e x pression.
