Preparation Method
Media Preparation: Reagents are tested and chosen for their ability to promote optimum growth of E. coli when combined in LB Agar Medium formulations. Chosen reagents are combined in the proper proportions according to the LB Agar formulation and thoroughly blended for a uniform distribution. A sample of the blended formulation is used to prepare agar medium. The combinations are mi x ed to dissolve components and then autoclaved at 121 °C for 15 minutes.
Applications
LB Agar Medium is a nutritionally rich medium originally developed for growth and maintenance of E. coli strains. The ultimate in ease and convenience, LB Agar Medium in a capsule form eliminates the waste, inaccuracies, and mess associated with weighing out bulk growth characteristics are the same as LB agar powder. LB Agar Medium supports a lu x urious growth of E. coli cells as tryptone and yeast e x tract supply essential growth factors that E. coli cells would otherwise have to synthesize. The medium also contains essential electrolytes for transport and osmotic balance, due to the NaCl component.
