The baffle also provides a longer path for the fluid to travel, which helps cool the fluid and provides more time for contaminants to settle. They have a non-removable lid, so most system components are mounted on the side of the tank. The convex bottom allows contaminants to settle to the bottom of the tank. Reservoir tanks include a breather cap, liquid level gauge, drain port, and thermometer. Steel hydraulic reservoir tanks have welded seams and are used for storing reserve fluid in hydraulic systems, such as those found in material handling and industrial applications. Heavy-duty steel hydraulic tanks have a top plate that can support peripherals, such as motors and pumps.
