Powered straddle stackers have an electric motor that both propels them and raises and lowers their forks. This reduces the physical effort it takes to operate them and move them over long distances, and it allows them to travel on inclined surfaces such as sloped floors or ramps. Also known as electric stackers and walkie stackers, powered stackers allow loads to be loaded, lifted, and moved over long distances more quickly than other types of stackers. Their motor is powered by a rechargeable battery. Straddle stackers have their outrigger legs positioned outside of their forks to stabilize the stackers. When a load is placed on the stackers' forks, its weight is distributed directly above these legs. The stackers' forks can completely reach the ground, which allows straddle stackers to lift any type of pallet or skid as long as there is sufficient clearance between it and the stackers' legs.
